Mr. Dan Allen reports
Audiotech Healthcare is moving forward with plans to both expand its clinic base in Alberta, and enhance the operating efficiencies of its Calgary clinics. In accordance with plans outlined in its fiscal 2000 annual report, Audiotech is in the final stages of negotiation to open a new satellite audiology clinic in Airdrie, Alta., situated 10 minutes north of Calgary. The new clinic, which is expected to open within the next 30 days, is located within walking distance of seniors housing, a medical clinic and a seniors centre. Patient care at the clinic will be provided by audiologist, Mae Hernandez. The clinic will serve the rapidly growing seniors population in Airdrie, as well as Calgary's northernmost neighbourhoods.
In addition, Audiotech has consolidated the operations of its Matheson's southwest Calgary clinic with its recently acquired Rocky Mountain clinic located at 8330 McLeod Trail S.E., Calgary. Audiologist Carol Green will be joining the Rocky Mountain clinic and will also remain responsible for the operations of a satellite clinic in Canmore, Alta.
"As a consolidator, it is part of our mandate to create administrative efficiencies and economies of scale within the specific geographic markets in which we operate. The consolidation of two of our Calgary clinics will significantly enhance the profitability of our Alberta operations by eliminating unnecessary duplicate overhead costs and streamlining marketing initiatives," commented Audiotech president and chief executive officer Osvaldo (Ozzie) Iadarola. "We continue to seek additional expansion opportunities within the Alberta marketplace to further enhance operating efficiencies and economies of scale."
